Sitter of the Month for September is NICOLE!
This month we are highlighting Nicole who has always had a passion for loving and caring for animals – its who she is!!
Nicole found PetCloud through being a staff member at the RSPCA and signed up straight away as she loves that a percentage from each booking is donated back to the RSPCA.
I’ve been with PetCloud for: 1 year
Occupation: Animal attendant
Services I offer: I offer pet sitting at my home, house visits, day care, daily walking and pet taxi services to dogs, cats and other small animals.
How do you make owners and their pets feel special?
I think I have to give full credit to my Kelpie ‘Blue’ and my RSPCA rescue cat ‘Mr Grey’ who are both so accepting and loving towards all of the animals who come in to our home , welcoming them, relaxing them and making the feel right at home.
What do you find rewarding about being a pet sitter?
For some animals, being in a kennel/cattery environment or even just leaving their own house or backyard is not possible so I like that I can help in that regard, knowing that they’re happy and comfortable. I love hearing from the owners that it was a positive experience for both them and the animals.
Each animal has their own interesting memories – a few that stick out include pet sitting a chinese crested (which are quite rare), an axolotl and a talking Alexandrine Parrot! There’s never a dull moment and I love each and every one of my PetCloud animals.

What extra services do you offer to increase your income and help out your clients?
I believe being flexible with pickup and drop off times, particularly if it’s out of regular business house helped for those busy pet owners. I’m happy to cater for any extra special need your animal may have, big or small.

How did the Accredited Pet Sitter course help give you confidence?
I have a Bachelor of Applied Science majoring in Vet Technology so I’ve got a great amount of prior tertiary training in animal care. The sitter course helped refresh my memory on some areas and I even learnt a few new things too.
People want to know that you’re qualified for the job, so seeing this badge on your profile helps you stand out.
What’s one piece of advice you would give to budding Pet Sitters out there?
If caring for animals is your passion and it makes you happy, then never let anything stop you from doing it. If you can do it for a job, then you’ll never really have to work a day in your life. Always be proactive in learning – this industry changes so make sure you are up to date with all that you need to be the best pet sitter that you can be.
